Ok we’ve discussed the problems that many businesses face in getting noticed by potential customers, but that is not the whole story. You see there are potential customers, these are the ones that you get your business noticed by & then there is what is referred to as “Targeted traffic”.
Is There Any Difference..?
Yes one major difference, let us say you get your business noticed by 1,000 new customers per month ! Wow great eh…? well no I’m afraid it is not that great, because although you may have got your business noticed by an extra 1,000 potential customers per month, the actual amount that are likely to spend any money at your particular business, is very small indeed.
Can I Justify That Statement
Yes very easily, take the previously mentioned imaginary hotel called ” The Palace Hotel, Manila ” The last problem faced by this hotel was the fact that a potential customer from the USA did not know the hotel name and therefore the chances of finding it on the internet were pretty remote, even though they have a nice new website. But this time it is a different problem they face, you see there is a theatre in town also called the palace & it just so happens they have a pop group performing there over the next few days.
So now we have thousands of youngsters on the net searching for ” The Palace ” in Manila and obviously a large number of these search results will come up with the afore mentioned hotel, simply because it is also called ” The Palace ” But although they have now got their hotel noticed by thousands of potential customers, they still take very few bookings because those doing the searching are looking for a theatre to book concert tickets & not a hotel.
Targeted Traffic Is How To Boost Sales
What is targeted traffic…? Well simply it is X number of potential customers who are either browsing the internet or reading newspaper ads & looking for exactly what your business is offering. So although the actual total number of potential customers may well be a lot smaller, the conversion rate to paying customers is much higher.
This is a strategy you can read about in many places on the internet, it is a well known marketing strategy of many large businesses and websites & can work equally well for you if used correctly.
The internet offers the possibility to get your business in front of thousands & possibly millions of potential customers & by using the right strategy you can increase your targeted traffic & also greatly increase your conversion rates to paying customers.

Yes indeed we can, you see this website that your looking at now is just a small part of a much larger enterprise here in the Philippines & what we are hoping to achieve is to address some of the issues mentioned in previous articles. This will not only help you the business person, but it will also help the tourist by making much needed information more readily available & easier to find. This will help tourism here in the Philippines, not just at a country level, but also at individual city level. In fact it is a well known fact that a healthy tourist industry not only brings much needed income to a country, but can also help to provide more jobs for local people. This obviously is a win win situation for everbody concerned.
How we will achieve this
This website as previously mentioned is just one part of a much bigger enterprise (call it a webring for want of a better term). It works like this, we take care of all search engine optimization not just for this page that your viewing now, but for the entire webring ( currently 16 additional Philippine cities). Each individual city site can operate & run totally independantly of the others and this is why each needs to be optimized not just as a website in it’s own right, but also as part of the whole webring. Although these city websites can operate independantly of eachother, they are to some degree mirrors of eachother also & each has common links to our P.V.G Forum , our Philippines Map Index & of course the main website Philippines Virtual Guide. As if that wasn’t enough, all the city sites also have the option for members to join as contributors, so for any budding reporters out there that would like to write an article on a particular tourist or beauty spot in their area, this is the place to do it !
An advert on our website will be different
It will be different in as much as a potential customer will find these pages simply by searching for key terms like Philippines, Philippine Hotels, Philippine Golf Clubs / Courses, Philippine Fishing Charter, Philippines Surfing, Philippine Resorts, etc etc . When they then find this website, they discover that not only can they narrow their search by category of business, but also by city. This will mean that the vast majority of people seeing your advert on these pages will be targeted traffic, because they have actually used a method of narrowing down their search until they arrive at your advert. If you try and imagine an upside down pyramid, the base being the broad search term “Philippines” & the point of the pyramid hovering directly over your advert, then I think you can understand the principal.

Yes we hoped you would say that. because a lot of work and effort has gone into the building of this website & all the other sites involved in this project. Already we have first page listings with Google for some of our city sites & also for the search term ” Philippines Virtual Guide “, this is a fantastic sign of what is to come, as this website was only submitted to the search engines on 12 June 2009 & as more adverts & articles get added it will continue to strengthen our position. But hey don’t take our word for it, try a search yourselves and see what you come up with !
So What Now…?
Well now we set about promotion of the website / webring, in addition to this over the next few months we will also be working hard adding more Philippine city sites & also fine tuning our SEO efforts, eventually we hope that just about any of the common search terms will produce this website on page one of results with Google, Yahoo & MSN and when that day comes this will have become one of the top tourist sites in the Philippines
